Center fielder Otis Nixon of the Minnesota Twins has accepted an apology from Kansas City shortstop Felix Martinez for what appeared to be an intentional kick to the face that broke Nixon’s jaw.
The two players met Saturday after the injury last weekend in Minnesota.
Nixon was trying to break up a double play. At first, the kick by Martinez appeared to be inadvertent, but Nixon later said the video replay made it look intentional.
The Twins have sent a letter and a tape to the American League office for review to determine if Martinez should be disciplined.
