UCLA Hosts Small-Business Career Night Event

MBA students aren’t just looking for jobs with the Fortune 500 crowd. A good number specializing in entrepreneurial programs are looking for jobs with small businesses.
Many of those students are expected to be on hand April 29 for UCLA’s Small Business Career Night, organized to bring aspiring and current entrepreneurs together. Sheri Greenberg, an MBA student in UCLA’s Anderson School, said she and other students are looking for a range of employment opportunities with small businesses, including academic internships, summer jobs and full-time positions.
“Many of our students would rather have the opportunity to grow a small business and really make a difference than go to work in investment banking,” Greenberg said.
Part of the impetus for the mixer, Greenberg said, is to show small-business owners that MBA students aren’t always inexperienced. She said many students in Anderson’s entrepreneurial programs have up to five years’ experience working in small businesses.
