Bug lovers, space research wannabes and other science enthusiasts are invited to the 44th annual Ventura County Science Fair on Wednesday.
Hosted by the Ventura County superintendent of schools office, this year’s fair should have a record number of participants: 1,200 students in grades five through 12, and 85 professional presenters--including entomologists, NASA engineers--paper-recycling plants, nutritionists and even a snail circus.
Students whose projects place well in 16 categories may win trophies, money and trips to a space camp. Awards will be presented Thursday.
The science fair is free and will be held at Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., from 2 to 6 p.m. Judges with professional scientific expertise are needed and are asked to show up at the fairgrounds at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
