Montalban to Appear at Mission Fund-Raiser

To raise money for next year’s California Mission Heritage Pageant, a fund-raiser featuring actor Ricardo Montalban will be Saturday at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
The pageant, set to open in August 1999, will be an educational spectacle featuring reenactments of mission historical events, period food, crafts and music, according to mission spokesman Jim Graves, one of the key organizers. It will be held about a mile from the mission at Joan Irvine Smith’s Oaks/Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park.
Proceeds from the fund-raiser and the pageant will help preservation efforts for the Great Stone Church, he said.
Montalban, who plans to narrate the pageant, will be joined at the fund-raiser by Smith, a mission benefactor, and Gayle Wilson, wife of Gov. Pete Wilson.
The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 including entertainment, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Information: (714) 699-1989.
