Montrenes Leads Ocean View Past Westminster

Pete Montrenes pitched his second no-hitter of the season to help Ocean View beat Westminster, 4-0, in a Golden West League baseball game Wednesday.
Montrenes (7-2) struck out 10.
Shawn White hit a two-run homer and John Clark was three for three with a run batted in. Ocean View is 10-9, 6-2. Westminster dropped to 4-4 in league.
In other league games:
No. 6 Servite 9, Santa Ana 1--Servite’s Mark Goldsmith had two hits and two RBIs. Teammate Brian Wolf (6-1) pitched a four-hitter, striking out nine. Servite is 12-5, 7-1.
Tustin 4, Saddleback 0--Tustin’s Jim Sanjurjo pitched a one-hitter, striking out 10. Quin Brumbaugh and Todd Scott each hit home runs for the Tillers (15-3, 6-2).
Saddleback is 1-16-1, 0-7-1.
In the Century League:
No. 4 Foothill 5, El Modena 3--Peter Kazangy (4-0) pitched his fourth complete game this season and Jonathon Stephens had three RBIs, including a home run in the fourth, for Foothill (14-3, 7-0).
Canyon 10, Orange 5--Jason Corapci was five for five with three RBIs and three stolen bases for Canyon (15-4, 7-1). In the sixth inning, Canyon’s Brian Dane hit a home run to break a 5-5 tie. Orange is 7-12, 2-6.
Villa Park 5, Santa Ana Valley 3--Brian Kunisch pitched a five-hitter for Villa Park (7-10, 2-5). He started because Robbie McConchie hurt his arm during warmups. Santa Ana Valley is 7-11, 1-7.
In the Empire League:
Cypress 7, Katella 2--Cypress’ Jason Pushckor pitched a four-hitter, striking out six. Pushckor also had a single and two RBIs for host Cypress (11-8, 4-4). Teammate Jason Rodriguez had two hits and two RBIs.
Katella falls to 11-8, 5-3.
Kennedy 17, Century 3 (5, mercy rule)--Adam LaMendola had two hits, four RBIs and four runs scored for Kennedy (11-8, 4-4). Teammate Jordan Reed also had two hits and two RBIs. Reed and LaMendola each had home runs.
In the Freeway League:
Buena Park 13, Troy 4--Shane Ellison pitched a four-hitter, striking out 11, and hit a home run to help snap the Coyotes’ 10-game losing streak. Daniel Flores had a home run, double and five RBIs for Buena Park (7-11, 2-6).
Fullerton 5, Sonora 4--Jon Tate singled in the tying run for Fullerton (10-7, 4-4) and Phil Girod scored from third base on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. Jeff Cody (8-2) gave up four runs on four hits in the first inning, but gave up no hits the rest of the way.
La Habra 4, Sunny Hills 3--Ryan Huff doubled in the seventh inning and scored on Dave Casato’s double. Rob Morales’ sacrifice fly scored Casato to clinch the 11th-straight victory for La Habra (13-5, 7-1). Casato was three for three with two doubles and two RBIs. Sunny Hills is 9-10, 4-4.
In the Garden Grove League:
No. 2 La Quinta 8, Santiago 1--Bobby Crosby went three for four with two RBIs and three runs scored. Steve Lee pitched a one-hitter, striking out seven. La Quinta is 19-1, 6-0.
Pacifica 4, Bolsa Grande 0--Brian Barre hit a three-run homer in the third inning for second-place Pacifica (13-7, 5-1).
In the Sea View League:
No. 3 Santa Margarita 11, Newport Harbor 3--Casey Grzecka had three hits, including a home run, and Randell Shelley homered for visiting Santa Margarita (15-4, 7-1). Newport Harbor is 5-11, 0-8.
Woodbridge 5, No. 9 El Toro 2--Greg Lawrence drove in two runs and Kevin Beavers had eight strikeouts in six innings to lead Woodbridge (12-6, 6-2). Chad Okuma had two hits and an RBI for Woodbridge.
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 6, Capistrano Valley 2--Jesse Gallup (5-0) struck out 13 for Dana Hills (12-6, 5-3).
Mission Viejo 10, No. 1 Mater Dei 5--Jeff Toth’s two-run single in the sixth put gave the Diablos (12-6, 4-4) the lead, 8-5. Dan Kessel (5-1) went the distance. Mater Dei is 15-3, 7-1.
Trabuco Hills 1, San Clemente 0 (9)--Eric Bowden (4-3) pitched a two-hitter and struck out five for Trabuco Hills (11-7, 5-3). Michael White’s sacrifice fly off San Clemente starter Jeff Goodman scored the go-ahead run for the visiting Mustangs.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 6, Esperanza 2--Jeff Harrell hit a three-run homer in the second inning for Edison (13-6, 4-4).
Marina 6, Huntington Beach 5--Nick German’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh scored Shaun Christmas to win it for Marina (11-8, 3-5). Derek Amundson had a home run, double and three RBIs.
