Re “New Era Dawning for Troubled South Oxnard,” April 19.
I am proud to be a Port Hueneme resident living on Park Avenue. I am proud of our beautiful yards, well-maintained homes and relatively safe neighborhoods. I object to being lumped in with the problems of South Oxnard.
Port Hueneme has the spirit and values of a small town. I walk to the grocery store, park, post office and schools. We have a gorgeous beach and fishing pier and great schools and great police.
Why do you lump us in with a neighborhood label that denies us our individuality and well-deserved pride in our small town? The Times owes us an apology.
