USC Ends Three-Game Losing Streak

Kristin Clark scored 21 points, including 15 in the first half, and Adrain Williams had 14 rebounds to lead USC past Cal State Northridge, 77-68, Saturday night at the Lyon Center.

USC (4-3) ended a three-game losing streak.

The Trojans led, 39-33, at halftime and pulled away with an 8-0 run to open the second half. They led by 15 points before the Matadors (4-3) staged a late comeback.

Northridge closed within five points with 3:26 remaining, but came no closer. Edniesha Curry had 30 points for the Matadors, who had 33 turnovers to 26 for USC.

Katie Douglas and Stephanie White-McCarty each scored 17 points and No. 3 Purdue used an 18-4 run to take control in a 92-52 victory over Ohio (0-6) at Athens, Ohio. Ukari Figgs added 16 points and Kelly Komara had 12 for the Boilermakers (6-1). . . . Danielle Green banked in the game-winning shot with 15.7 seconds left and No. 6 Notre Dame (7-1, 1-1) survived a five-minute scoring drought in the second half and defeated Villanova (4-5, 0-1), 63-62, in a Big East game at South Bend, Ind. . . . Noelia Gomez had 17 points and six rebounds as No. 13 George Washington (6-2) blew the game open in the first half and defeated La Salle (5-3), 69-48, at Washington, D.C., in the Atlantic 10 opener for both teams. . . . Hilary Howard scored 21 points and No. 16 Duke beat Temple, 112-34, at Durham, N.C. The Blue Devils (7-4) set school records for shooting and margin of victory. Temple is 4-4.

Megan Taylor scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half and No. 18 Iowa State (6-1) pulled away from Drake (3-4), 78-60, at Ames, Iowa. . . . Brooke Schwartz scored 16 points as No. 19 Nebraska (9-1) took control in the second half and beat Montana (0-3), 78-46, at Lincoln, Neb. . . . Tere Williams scored 26 points, 12 in a crucial second-half run, and grabbed 14 rebounds as No. 22 Virginia Tech defeated Duquesne, 67-60, at Blacksburg, Va. The Hokies (8-0, 1-0 Atlantic 10) trailed, 30-29, at halftime, but opened the second half with a 15-8 run from which Duquesne (7-1, 0-1) never recovered.

Lynn Pride scored 18 points to lead No. 23 Kansas to a 70-62 victory over Creighton at Lawrence, Kan. Creighton (3-3) jumped out to a 17-7 lead with 10:36 left in the first half, but Kansas (7-3) scored 11 unanswered points to take a 21-17 lead with 5:58 left in the half.
