“I had the 1996 Silverado Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot at a restaurant recently, and it was dynamite, a really lovely wine. It is complex and, for a ‘96, it was all together. Frankly, I was a little apprehensive when they brought it; I thought sure they’d bring the ’95. But it was very lush for a young wine, and it still has a long way to go.”
