Flaw Puts Too Much Into Social Security

A computer glitch has resulted in Social Security’s reserve account earning higher interest than it should, an error that is gaining the retirement program an estimated $4.4 billion extra from the federal Treasury. In a letter to members of Congress, Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin said a fix is in the works. The error involves interest rates on special T-bills.
