An electrical fire ravaged the downstairs section of a two-story home in Westchester Tuesday, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage, fire officials said.
The house in the 7900 block of West 81st Street was not occupied because it was undergoing renovation.
Firefighters arrived at the home at 9:47 a.m. and doused the flames in 24 minutes, said Los Angeles Fire Department Spokesman Bob Collis. The fire spread through the living room and den area of the home but was under control before it reached the second floor.
Officials said the fire caused $35,000 in damage to the structure and $15,000 to the contents.
