Waite Cleared to Seek Bono’s Seat

A Riverside County Superior Court judge Tuesday ordered the county registrar to reinstate actor Ralph Waite as a Democrat, effectively allowing him to resume his campaign for the congressional seat vacated by the death of Sonny Bono, Waite aides said.

Waite, who played Pa Walton on the long-running television series, “The Waltons,” will square off against Republican Mary Bono, the congressman’s widow.
