A 20-year-old man was in custody Thursday after allegedly breaking into a Lake Forest home and biting a woman on the face in what authorities said was a failed kidnapping attempt.
Gustavo Franco was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and burglary shortly after the attack on a 40-year-old woman living in the 23000 block of Duryea Drive, Police Lt. Keith Brown said.
The victim suffered only a bruised face during the 2:40 a.m. attack, which ended when her husband and daughter came to her aid, Brown said.
The woman told deputies she was working on her computer in the family room when the intruder broke in through a sliding glass door, Brown said. The man crept up behind her and clamped his hand over his mouth and tried to drag her out of the house, Brown said.
During the struggle the victim bit the attacker’s finger and he responded by biting her face, Brown said. He then fled.
Franco, who matched the attacker’s description, was arrested by deputies searching the area, Brown said.
