Information Sought on Stolen Contacts

Port Hueneme authorities asked for the public’s help Saturday in recovering 150 pairs of disposable, color-tinted contact lenses that were stolen from an optometrist’s office.
Investigators are concerned that the lenses, which may have been stolen to sell, could cause serious eye injuries, including blindness, if not used properly, said Sgt. Ken Dobbe, coordinator of Port Hueneme Crime Stoppers.
The lenses, along with storage cases and wetting solution, were stolen Jan. 26 from offices at 465 W. Channel Islands Blvd., Dobbe said.
Authorities are asking anyone with any information about the stolen lenses to call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (805) 385-TALK. A reward of $1,000 will be given for information that leads to the filing of a criminal complaint.
