Dominguez Top-Seeded in Division

Compton Dominguez, winner of two consecutive Southern Section and state championships, is the top-seeded team in Division II-A for the boys’ Southern Section basketball playoffs.
Competition in 10 divisions begins Wednesday with wild-card games. First-round games are Friday at 7:30 p.m. Championship games will be played March 5 and 6 at the Bren Center in Irvine and March 7 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim.
Dominguez (20-4), champion of the San Gabriel Valley League and ranked No. 1 in the state, begins its quest for a third straight section title against Hacienda Heights Los Altos (11-12), an at-large team.
Suburban League champ Lakewood Artesia (25-1), the top- seeded team in Division I-AA, plays the winner of a wild-card game between Fountain Valley (13-11) and Crescenta Valley (16-10).
Baseline League champion Glendora (25-1), the top-seeded team in Division I-A, plays Mark Keppel (11-13) of the Almont League in a first-round game.
