Brain Leaders--Learn about the birds in your backyard and which plants attract them at a workshop offered by the Sea & Sage Audubon Society. The program, designed for beginning bird watchers, will be 9 a.m. to noon April 4 at a home in Villa Park. Participants will build a bird feeder and take home a plant to start a native plant garden. Cost is $15. To register, send a check payable to Sea & Sage Audubon along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope by March 28 to P.O. Box 5447, Irvine, CA 92616. Early Earth Day--The Discovery Museum of Orange County is getting a head start on Earth Day with a celebration March 8. The free event, “Earth Day Every Day,” marks the grand opening of the museum’s nature center and features beekeepers, sheep shearers and Native American storytellers. Tours will be offered and children can create crafts from natural and recycled materials. There will be instruction on herb gardening, and native plants and books will be offered for sale. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is at 3101 W. Harvard St., Santa Ana. Information: (714) 540-0404.
