Tape, Ludwicki Are Conference MVPs

Lohnnie Tape, a sophomore forward from Santa Ana, and Jennifer Ludwicki, a sophomore guard from Orange Coast, were selected the most valuable players of the Orange Empire Conference in men’s and women’s basketball.
Tape, from Esperanza High, was second in the conference in scoring at 23.4 points. Ludwicki, from Fountain Valley High and Washington State, led the conference in scoring at 23.2.
Dana Pagett, who led Santa Ana to the title by winning the last nine games in conference, was the men’s coach of the year.
Mike Thornton of Orange Coast and Kevin Kiernan of Cypress were the co-coaches of the year for the women.
