Pacifica 69, Moorpark 67--Adam Rachlin’s basket with seven seconds remaining lifted Pacifica (24-4).
Moorpark’s Keith Donohue missed two free throws with one second left and the Musketeers finished the season 22-7. Kevin Lawrence scored 32 points for Moorpark.
Jason Simpson scored 15 points for Pacifica, which will play the Redondo Beach Redondo Union, a 74-59 winner over La Puente Bishop Amat.
In Division II-AA:
Santa Margarita 62, Katella 60--The Eagles won the quarterfinal game at Brea Olinda despite a 33-point performance by Katella guard Robert Abercrombie.
Abercrombie made a three-point shot with 3:47 to play in the second quarter to cut the lead to 21-18.
But with less than a minute left in the first half, Santa Margarita guard T.J. Williams scored off an assist from Jake Rohe for a 28-24 lead.
Late in the third quarter, Abercrombie hit three consecutive three-pointers to pull Katella as close as 48-45. Abercrombie, a 6-foot-2 junior, hit eight of 14 three-point attempts.
Early in the fourth quarter, Abercrombie scored on a layup off a steal to put the Knights ahead, 50-48.
But Santa Margarita (26-2) regained control late in the game. Dekker McKeever tied the score, 60-60, on a dunk with 44 seconds remaining.
Santa Margarita guard Craig Rice scored the winning layup off an assist from Rohe with six seconds left.
“I never thought this game was going to be easy,” said Santa Margarita Coach Jerry DeBusk. “That’s a good team filled with juniors. They’ll be back next year.”
