Loyola 2, Santa Barbara 0--Justin Adair and Shawn Mutch scored second-half goals and goalkeeper Keith Ramsey earned the shutout in the Southern Section Division I quarterfinal at Loyola.
El Toro 1, Palos Verdes Peninsula 0--Julian Gaitan scored his third-consecutive game-winning goal in the playoffs, this one in the Southern Section Division I quarterfinal at El Toro.
San Bernardino Aquinas 5, Brentwood 2--Justin Wells scored three goals, including the go-ahead score nine minutes into the second half to lead Aquinas in a Southern Section Division V second-round game at Aquinas.
Pasadena Poly 1, Sierra Madre Maranatha 0--Greg Freeburg scored 2 1/2 minutes into the game and Ben Imhoff got the shutout in a Southern Section Division V second-round victory at Poly.
Belmont 1, Hollywood 0--After a scoreless tie, the defending City Section boys’ champion Sentinels advanced, 5-4, on penalty kicks in a second-round game at Belmont.
Bell 2, Harbor City Narbonne 0--Benjamin Covarrubias scored in the first half and Jose Rodriguez added a goal in the second to pace the Eagles in a City 4-A game at Narbonne.
GIRLS
Simi Valley 2, Arcadia 1--After playing to a 1-1 tie, Simi Valley converted four of five penalty kicks to defeat the Apaches in a Southern Section Division I girls’ second-round game at Arcadia.
Manual Arts 3, Roosevelt 2--Faviola Arias and Arlin Rossil scored first-half goals, but Manual Arts needed penalty kicks to advance in a girls’ City Section 3-A first-round game at Roosevelt.
Granada Hills Kennedy 4, Wilmington Banning 0--Laura Robins, Erica Espinoza, Brigitte Macias and Jennifer Bernson scored for Kennedy in a City Section first-round game at Kennedy.
