Re “Senator Received $10,000 After Aiding DNC Donor,” Dec. 24: Now Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) is being hounded by The Times over campaign fund-raising! It is certainly strange that with Republicans out-raising and outspending Democrats 3 to 1 only Democrats are being investigated by the Republican-biased media scandalmongers like The Times.
It only stands to reason that all this Republican spending was not and is not above suspicion but all we hear about are any slight, possible infractions by Democrats.
I think it is all much ado about nothing because as long as campaigning itself is so outrageously expensive both parties will continue to raise money any way they can, for the simple reason they both consider it imperative that they win. I am waiting for The Times and other media, especially TV, to offer free space and time for campaign advertising. The media should put up or shut up!
The public could stop the money game in its tracks simply by voting against the candidate that spends the most. All this whining and howling about it will do absolutely no good minus my two suggestions!
