Let’s Take a Look at Selig’s Record
Colorado owner Jerry McMorris’ statement that Bud Selig has done an outstanding job as commissioner of baseball is a joke [Dec. 20]. Baseball cannot afford to have a small-market owner as commissioner. Especially one with as bad a track record as Bud Selig.
He has presided over the longest labor strike in sports history and the cancellation of the 1994 World Series. Per-game attendance and TV ratings have declined since his first year as “interim” commissioner. Baseball needs a strong executive who can get the owners and the players’ union working for the good of baseball instead of the constant fighting over every issue.
