William L. Tipton; Decorated Air Corps Veteran

Retired Air Force Capt. William Lewis Tipton, a lifelong Ventura resident, died Saturday at his home. He was 74.
The former officer, known as “Tip,” was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Ventura. He attended Ventura High School and Ventura College before joining the Army Air Corps.
He flew 65 bombing missions during World War II, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Family members said Tipton will be remembered for his steadfast courage.
Tipton is survived by his wife, RoseMarie; daughter Linda Rick; son Bill; and six grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura.
