‘Titanic’ to Enter European Waters

In three weeks, “Titanic” has not only amassed $157 million in North America, but also $48.1 million in 11 foreign territories. It opens in Europe this weekend. On Saturday, the 16th day of its domestic release, “Titanic” had its biggest single box-office day--$12.7 million. The $11.6 million it took in New Year’s Day was the highest ever for a film on that date.
Not to be outdone, MGM/UA’s James Bond thriller “Tomorrow Never Dies” has grossed $207 million at the foreign and domestic box office in only 17 days.
Films in limited release included “Wag the Dog,” “The Boxer,” “Oscar & Lucinda” and “Kundun.”
