Library Needs Focus of Consultant’s Study

The city will spend up to $42,600 in consultant fees to help prepare a long-range plan for Tustin libraries, the City Council decided.

By a unanimous vote Monday, the council agreed to spend Redevelopment Agency funds to hire David M. Griffith & Associates, a Burlingame-based consulting firm. The firm will conduct research in the community to identify top needs, evaluate current services and analyze demographic trends to develop a library plan.

“We’re really excited about this,” Assistant City Manager Christine Shingleton said. “It will provide the community with outreach to identify the library services they’d like, and the consultant will identify facility needs for the next 15 years.”

Based on the consultants findings, the city will consider whether to add library facilities, expand its main library at 345 E. Main St., or both, Shingleton said.
