A Long Beach man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and attempted murder, fire officials said.
Henry M. Schinke, 29, was arrested by Long Beach Fire Department arson investigators Tuesday after a garage fire at 109 W. 14th St. in Long Beach, Capt. James Watson said.
The suspect had been involved in an argument with his wife and neighbors, and allegedly threatened to kill his wife and himself by causing an explosion, Watson said.
Schinke allegedly poured fuel in the garage and ignited it at 2 a.m. Tuesday, said arson investigator Dave Kean. No one was injured, and the fire was confined to the garage, Kean said.
Fire officials said they expect the district attorney’s office to file formal charges today.
