Amy DeCinces, a 6-foot outside hitter at Mater Dei, has signed a letter of intent with Michigan, girls’ Athletic Director Geri Campeau said.

Shirley Topley, a longtime softball coach and Anaheim resident, has been named to the USA Softball National Team Coaches Pool, making her eligible for selection as a coach for international competition up through the 2000 Olympics.

Topley, inducted into the Orange County Hall of Fame in 1991, coached the U.S. team to the gold medal in the 1991 Pan American Games.
