Trains Long Ago Left These Two Writers’ Polling Station

What was Chris Dufresne watching on Jan. 1 and 2, reruns of “Gilligan’s Island”? Because we don’t have a clear-cut national champion, he’s bothered to the point of blaming Nebraska’s coach for retiring instead of the system that allows both elitist sportswriters (one of whom until recently thought North Carolina was No. 1) and those know-nothing, “sappy” coaches to choose the best team.
Come down from your ivory keyboard, Chris. It has less to do with sympathetic hearts and more with your “Rose” colored glasses when you didn’t vote for Nebraska.

For a short while my step was light; the world was bright. Then all that ended: The polls came out.
Now my step is heavy. The world is dark and full of nihilism and other stuff.
How can life have meaning when there is no undisputed No. 1 team in college football? How can the nation go on?
Can’t Congress pass a law or something to remedy the situation? Can’t the Almighty make a new commandment? Can’t sportswriters come through with more columns?
