U.S. Report Accuses Sheriff of Brutality

The sheriff who dresses inmates in pink underwear, houses them in Army tents and feeds them ostrich meat was harshly criticized in a Justice Department report for alleged brutality against inmates. The report attacked Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio for the use of force, including using pepper spray and restraint chairs, and condemned the jail’s grievance procedures and “unsafe” intake area, the Arizona Republic reported. Arpaio’s lawyer disputed most of the findings.
