LOS ALAMITOS — A cable news channel bus will visit Los Alamitos High School students Tuesday on a cross-country tour that teaches students about democracy.
The C-SPAN School Bus features a 45-square-foot production studio and demonstration center. Students will learn how the public affairs reporting channel uses technology to gather news.
Students also will learn about author and statesman Alexis de Tocqueville, whose 1831 cross-country journey resulted in the book, “Democracy in America.”
He possessed strong beliefs about religious and press freedoms, racial equality and other political issues.
The bus will stop at the school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. C-SPAN airs locally on Time Warner Communications Channel 12A.
The bus will be visiting other Orange County schools, including Newhart Middle School in Mission Viejo on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
