The Golden West League figures to be one of the most competitive in the county this year. Most years, Santa Ana and Saddleback battle for the league title. But this year, Servite appears ready to make a run. The Friars began the season unranked, but they won their first 13 games and have climbed to eighth in the county rankings. Servite, which is led by senior midfielder Mark Kisting, hosts top-ranked Saddleback at 3:15 p.m. Friday.
Other top games on Friday include third-ranked Santa Margarita at El Toro in the Sea View, fifth-ranked Fountain Valley at Edison in the Sunset and seventh-ranked Laguna Hills at Laguna Beach in the Pacific Coast.
