Crystal Topham scored two minutes into overtime Wednesday, giving the Thousand Oaks High girls’ soccer team a 1-0 victory over Agoura at Thousand Oaks and keeping the Lancers in the thick of the Marmonte League title race.
Topham, playing central midfield, pounced on a ball that bounced out of a crowd in front of the Agoura goal and calmly lofted a 20-yard shot over Agoura goalkeeper Sarah Landis and under the crossbar.
“I was thinking I’d better hurry because their defense was coming at me,” Topham said. “Then I saw it slip over [Landis’] hands.”
Thousand Oaks (7-4-2, 4-1-1 in league play) held a 11-4 shot advantage over the Chargers (12-4-1, 4-2). Landis made six saves.
