Clinic Receives Grant to Help Pregnant Women

Venice Family Clinic has received a $38,000 grant from the California Primary Care Assn. for programs that serve low-income pregnant women in Venice, Mar Vista and Culver City.
“We are very excited to be able to provide more vital prenatal services to pregnant women as a result of this funding,” said Elizabeth Benson Forer, executive director of the clinic.
The association also gave a $17,000 grant to the Westside Women’s Health Clinic in Santa Monica.
The money will be used to establish a Spanish-language outreach program encouraging Latinas to seek early prenatal care, said Marilyn Keinhein, the director of clinical services.
Roughly 66% of the pregnant women visiting the clinic are Latinas who often wait until late in their pregnancies to seek health care, she said.
Based in Sacramento, CPCA represents 250 nonprofit community clinics and health centers in California which deliver primary and preventive health care services to more than 1.3 million people.
