Crescenta Valley Meets Buena for Supremacy
- Share via
There is no league championship or playoff berth at stake when Buena and Crescenta Valley meet in a girls’ basketball game tonight.
Something equally important might be decided--which team is the best in the Valley and Ventura County region.
The Falcons (16-1) enter the game, scheduled for 8 p.m. at Buena, as The Times’ No. 1 team. The Bulldogs (17-1) are ranked No. 2.
Buena, which beat Crescenta Valley, 59-55, in last season’s Southern Section Division I-A championship game for its fourth title in five years, is led by Renae Hofmann (14.4 points per game, 3.7 steals), Kelly Greathouse (12.7 points, 9.4 rebounds) and Kelly Murray (3.7 assists and 3.1 assists).
Crescenta Valley will counter with All-American player Michelle Greco (20.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists), Sinnamonn Garrett (13.5 points, 10.8 rebounds) and Tara Gregory (4.8 assists, 5.2 steals).
Buena is using the game as a fund-raising event, with one ticket package including a chicken and tri-tip dinner.
