Adult Reading Program Finds a Home

After 12 years, the Culver City adult reading program has established its headquarters in the Culver City Adult School, its director said.
Previously, tutors and students met in private residences or in public venues such as the libraries or the YMCA, Pat Davies said. ) Now program participants will have access to the school’s adult education classroom.
“As well as having a meeting place, they have access to videos and computers, which they didn’t have before,” Davies said.
The school, attached to Culver City High, helps students improve their writing and math skills.
According to the Los Angeles Literacy Network, 20% of California adults are illiterate.
