Complaints Prompt Miller to Yank Angels Ad

Miller Brewing Co. has pulled a television commercial depicting beer-swilling angels after complaints from viewers, including a New Jersey minister who said the ad mocked consumers’ faith. Miller reported an overwhelmingly positive response for the ad in which several angels create a gust of wind to knock beer bottles from the back of a beer truck. The ad won’t be shown again “because Miller is sensitive to the concerns of our communities,” said Miller spokeswoman Gina Shaffer. The minister had gathered 3,000 signatures from consumers who thought the ad was out of order. Miller described the commercial as part of a campaign designed to bolster sales to consumers in their 20s.
