The California Department of Education announced Wednesday that four Orange County secondary schools were among 22 statewide to be selected for a visit by the 1997-1998 National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.
In November, eight Orange County secondary schools were nominated among 46 statewide to become National Blue Ribbon Schools.
Now Dana Hills, Los Alamitos and Corona del Mar high schools and Rancho San Joaquin Middle School have been selected for a visit from the national review panel between Feb. 24 and April 21. Following the visit, the winning National Blue Ribbon Schools will be notified by May 22.
The honor is given to schools that demonstrate, among other things, challenging standards and curriculum and partnerships with families and the community. The 46 California nominees will all be honored at the State Distinguished School Awards Ceremony held May 22 at Disneyland.
