Divorce Will Not Affect Murdoch’s News Corp. Control

News Corp. said ownership and control of the media and entertainment company won’t be affected by the pending divorce of Chairman Rupert Murdoch and his wife, Anna.
Anna Murdoch, who is a News Corp. director and vice president, filed for divorce last week in Los Angeles, seeking alimony and division of the couple’s property. She cited “irreconcilable differences” in seeking the divorce after 32 years of marriage.
The Murdoch family owns 31% of the Sydney, Australia-based company, whose interests include U.S., British and Australian newspapers and the 20th Century Fox film and television studio.
“The Murdoch family interests in News Corp. have been structured for many years in such a way that the personal matters between Mr. and Mrs. Murdoch will not affect the ownership, control or management of the company,” News Corp. attorney Arthur Siskind said.
