Ex-Teacher Charged With Seeking Sex on Internet

A former Compton middle school teacher was charged Tuesday with an attempted lewd act on a child after he allegedly sought sex from a Los Angeles detective posing as a 13-year-old girl on the Internet, authorities said.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Debra Starr said police began investigating Andrew Goldberg, 28, after receiving a citizen’s complaint.
The detective who posed on the Internet as the underage girl said Goldberg initiated a meeting with her. He was arrested Monday when he arrived at a Los Angeles location where he thought the girl lived, the prosecutor said.
Goldberg taught at Roosevelt Middle School in Compton until June, but his contract was not renewed for next year, police said. School officials could not be reached for comment.
