Help From IRS

* What’s fair is fair! The IRS has taken a lot of big hits in recent days, but I want to report my experience of a completely “user-friendly” service.
I received a bill for 1997 income tax due, because of errors in my returns. I couldn’t believe I had made such errors, so I dialed the “hotline” for help. In about two minutes, I was connected to an agent who brought up my returns on her computer. She then “walked” me step-by-step through each line, with special regard to the Social Security computation, where I had erred. The service was so competent and the agent so nice and friendly that it was almost a pleasure to pay the extra tax.
