Corona Santiago 2, Fullerton Rosary 0--Angie Melendrez threw a two-hitter and got the last out of the game on a one-hopper as Santiago won the Southern Section Division IV title game at Mayfair Park.
Melendrez (26-3) is the only senior on a team playing its second varsity season.
She got help from her catcher, junior Jessica Bashor--sounds like basher, rhymes with masher--whose moonshot over the left field fence, her fifth homer of the year, gave Santiago a one-run lead three batters into the game.
