Commission Fails to Name Miami Mayor

Miami remained without a chief Thursday as officials failed to name an interim mayor to help the city through a vote fraud scandal. The City Commission had been expected to choose an interim mayor but vowed instead to do so Wednesday. Circuit Court Judge Thomas S. Wilson Jr. nullified Miami’s November mayoral election, finding it tainted by “massive, well-conceived and well-orchestrated” ballot fraud. He ordered a new election in 60 days, pitting Mayor Xavier Suarez against the man he ousted, Joe Carollo.
