Tape, Ludwicki Named First-Team All-State

Santa Ana’s Lohnnie Tape and Orange Coast’s Jennifer Ludwicki were first-team selections on the all-state basketball teams.
Tape, a sophomore forward from Esperanza High, averaged 23 points and helped Santa Ana to the final round of the Southern California playoffs. He also became the all-time scoring leader at Santa Ana.
Ludwicki, a sophomore guard from Fountain Valley High School, averaged 24 points and helped the Pirates to the quarterfinals of the state tournament. She set the OCC single-season scoring record. Ludwicki, who played at Washington State as a freshman, has committed to New Orleans.
Fullerton’s Angie Baca, a sophomore guard from Norwalk Glenn High, was a second-team all-state pick.

Coming soon: Brad Pickler, in his 12th year as the Cypress softball coach, is nearing 500 victories.
Pickler has a mark of 493-155, including a 1-0 victory over Golden West Monday. Cypress had a 28-game winning streak last season and went on to win its second state title under Pickler.
Cypress has a 15-game winning streak with a record of 89-7 over the last 1 1/2 seasons.
