A Times Staff Writer

Game Boy, the popular portable video game system, is expanding its horizons with a new attachment that turns the unit into a digital camera. Nintendo of America Inc. also intends to market a printer that can be used to print photos taken by the game-top camera. The Game Boy camera and printer will go on the market June 1. “Kids can actually photograph and insert their own faces as the stars of games, or make and collect stickers with all their friends’ faces,” said Peter Main, executive vice president. Nintendo sold nearly 500,000 cameras in less than a month in Japan. The camera will retail for about $49.95 and the printer will retail for about $59.95. Mattel Inc. unveiled a similar system for its Barbie doll computer game during the February Toy Fair in New York.
