Support Program for Stroke Victims Begins
- Share via
Seeking to provide stroke victims and their families with much-needed support, the city today will launch a program that provides educational and health-related information and services to meet their needs.
The Survivor of Strokes Support Services program, which is being funded by the city, will provide stroke victims with weekly exercise and nutrition classes while conducting monthly seminars for caregivers. Motivational speakers and field trips also will be offered.
A recent survey of residents showed that services for stroke victims were lacking, so the City Council voted to spend $67,000 to create a program that would better serve them. The program is open to anyone, but Carson residents will receive priority.
The program kicks off today with an open house and registration at 2:30 p.m. at the Carson Community Center at 3 Civic Plaza Drive. For information: (310) 952-1778.
