To raise money for YWCA programs aimed at women and children in several North County communities, the public is invited to attend “Chocolate Fantasy” tonight) at the Hyatt Regency Alicante.
The event is expected to raise about $20,000 for the YWCA of North Orange County.
Programs that will benefit include “Beyond Shelter,” which provides a room and support services for working women, breast-cancer screenings for women of limited means, a youth employment service and a child development center for low- to moderate-income families.
The YWCA programs empower families to live independent and productive lives, giving them a “hand up, not a hand out,” said Linda Symonds, executive director.
The event, from 7 to 11 p.m., features a buffet of chocolate desserts. Cost is $30 a person and tickets will be available at the door. The hotel is at Harbor Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, south of Disneyland.
