THOUSAND OAKS — With more than 400 Ventura County children without homes, the Homeless Education Project is looking for some helping hands.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Thousand Oaks High School, volunteers will be collecting funds and goods to aid the county’s homeless.
The funds will be distributed to several area social service organizations aiding homeless families and children.
Organizers said they need money, which will go to the project administered by the Ventura County superintendent of schools office, as well as canned and packaged foods, dressers, desks, chairs, lamps, bedding, art supplies, clothing, personal hygiene sundries and a host of other items.
Tax receipts will be available with donations.
The Elks Club will be selling barbecued foods.
