Spotlight: AppleOne Shops for Job Seekers at Wal-Mart

You can buy a car battery, do your banking and eat lunch inside Wal-Mart department stores. Now you can shop for a new career as well. Torrance-based employment firm AppleOne has opened branches in Wal-Marts in six Southern states. The privately held firm has had trouble finding clients because the jobless rate is so low, so it’s hoping to recruit from the ranks of shoppers. About 50,000 people enter a Wal-Mart each month. AppleOne has 10 Wal-Mart branches and plans to open seven more this summer.
