Mystery Dinner Fund-Raiser Aims at Reviving Theater

The foundation trying to restore and reopen the venerable Balboa Theater is sponsoring a murder mystery dinner party next week to raise money for the cause.
“Whodunit in Balboa” is designed to help the Balboa Performing Arts Theatre Foundation raise money to buy the theater and turn it into a multimedia venue in conjunction with a revitalization of the historic downtown Balboa Peninsula.
The Gourmet Detective, a professional mystery dinner theater troupe, will involve all guests in attendance in the hunt for clues.
“Guests are asked to dress the part with hats and trench coats; weapons will be checked at the door,” according to organizers.
The fund-raiser starts at 6 p.m. at the Balboa Pavilion, 400 Main St.
Admission is $55.
Reservations can be made at Britta’s cafe, 205 Main St., Newport Beach, or by calling (949) 673-0895.
