Valencia Trips Up North Torrance, 3-0

Valencia High made the most of its first appearance in the Southern Section softball playoffs, going on the road to defeat North Torrance, 3-0, in a Division II wild-card game Wednesday afternoon.
Lauren Watson hit a run-scoring triple in the first inning and Michelle Smith (11-10) pitched a three-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks for the Vikings (16-11).
Melanie Williams and Nicole Giampaolo each had three hits and drove in a run.
Valencia will go on the road again to play second-seeded Righetti in a first-round game Friday at Santa Maria.
