An apparent wrong-way driver hit a school bus on its way to a campus for disabled children in Garden Grove on Thursday, but none of the four students in wheelchairs aboard the bus was injured.
The accident occurred on Brookhurst Street near Trask Avenue about 8:45 a.m. as the bus headed to Mark Twain Special School, a Garden Grove Unified School District campus for handicapped and disabled students.
The specially equipped bus was traveling north on Brookhurst Street when it was hit by a driver apparently heading south in the same lane. A third vehicle also was involved in the accident.
Garden Grove Police Lt. John Woods said that no one was hurt and that the investigation is being handled by the California Highway Patrol because a school bus was involved. No citations have been issued.
