Puzzled by ‘Inishmaan’

Unlike the letters you published on Nov. 7, I completely agreed with Jan Breslauer’s review of “The Cripple of Inishmaan.”
I was terribly disappointed with the play, and the Geffen Playhouse’s decision to select this work to open its season (I am a season subscriber). I thought the “buzz” surrounding it was a classic case of hype. The play was not only dull and unfunny, it was a trite and stereotypical portrayal of “those silly Irishmen.” I left the theater puzzled by everyone’s apparent enjoyment of it.
